Meet Adriana.
“My life’s mission is to use my knowledge of gut health to help as many people as I can lead a healthier life.”
Hello and welcome!
Congratulations on taking your first steps towards a healthier gut. I couldn’t be happier that you’re here!
My name is Adriana Bean and I live on the shoreline in Connecticut, although I more proudly identify as a born-and-raised Mainer (or “Mainiac”, if we’re being technical). I am a proud mama of a mini labradoodle named Libby, and married to my favorite human and world travel partner, Jordan.
I am an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with my Master’s in Professional Behavior Analysis and specialization in gut health. Something you can’t shut me up about is the gut microbiome, and my life’s mission is to use my knowledge of gut health to help as many people as I can lead a healthier life.
When I grow up, I want to be a centenarian (yes, I’m one of those freaks who actually wants to make it to their 100th birthday) and I whole-heartedly believe that a healthy gut will get me there. I am fascinated by the Blue Zones (places in the world with the highest concentration of centenarians), so much so that my husband and I got married in Sardinia, Italy - the very first discovered Blue Zone.
“Once I balanced my gut, both of my autoimmune diseases and my acne miraculously healed.”
My WHY:
At the age of 7, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis - an autoimmune disease that affects the colon. Always having a stomach ache, keeled over in pain, and missing school because of my disease were all normal parts of my life. I was told it was a lifelong disease and curing it was never part of the conversation, so I never questioned it. In my teens, I got the typical hormonal acne, but unlike most of my friends, it blessed me with its presence far (like very far) beyond my teenage years. I blamed my acne on my genetics and moved on. Then at age 20, I was diagnosed with a second autoimmune disease: Hoshimoto’s Thyroiditis. I was told once again that it was a lifelong disease and that my thyroid disease was completely separate from my digestive disease. I remember sitting in the doctor’s office hearing all of this and thinking, “that doesn’t make sense…it can’t be a coincidence that I have two autoimmune diseases and unusually stubborn acne; they must all be connected somehow.” And so my passion for gut health was born. In my 20s, I started to look more deeply into my lifestyle choices, mainly my diet at the time, and plunged into as many wellness resources I could get my hands on. I became a health coach and took courses on gut health, in addition to countless hours researching, watching documentaries, listening to podcasts, and reading as many books on the topic as I could. Come to find out, my intuition was correct. Gut health was the root of all my issues, and once I balanced my gut, both of my autoimmune diseases and my acne miraculously healed. Even my doctors were speechless.
“I want you to know you are not alone.”
Why do I share all of this with you?
If any of this resonated with you, I want you to know you are not alone.
I collaborate with my clients from the perspective of lifestyle. I am not here to push a certain way of eating or exercising on you, but rather, to provide you space to discover what works best for your unique body and lifestyle. With me as your personal guide, you will complete the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP), which will be your first big step towards healing your autoimmune. After completing AIP, you will be left with a completely individualized way of eating that is inclusive of all food groups and keeps your symptoms at bay. But we don’t stop there. We will also explore other areas of your health including (but not limited to): movement, restorative sleep, stress management, self care, and connection (both nature and human). Finding balance in each of these areas of health is where the real magic happens, and where you will not only feel relief from your symptoms, but you will be thriving and feeling a way you never thought was possible.
I understand this journey can be overwhelming at times. It my hope that I can help make that journey more fun and inspiring, and leave you with the confidence and knowledge to sustain your success over many years to come.
